#innovationIOWA Iowa crops headed for record year

WATERLOO –¬†Iowa crops are on course for record or near-record production.¬†According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Sept. 11 estimate, Iowa corn production is forecast at 2.41 billion bushels, down slightly from the August forecast. That level is still 2 percent above 2014’s harvest and, if realized, would tie 2009 for the highest on record. The USDA is projecting Iowa’s soybean production at 526 million bushels, which is a 2 percent increase from the August estimate. If realized, that would be the largest soybean production on record, beating out 2005.
